Susan Brandvold, Chairperson
Susan has been a credit union member for 30 plus years since 1982 when she graduated from Trinity School of Nursing. Susan has been on the Board of Directors since 2000. She is married to Pastor Joel Brandvold and lives at Shepherd’s Hill at the Crossroads near St. John, North Dakota. Susan has 2 children, Phillip (Bethany) who lives in St. Paul, Minnesota and Jason who will graduate in 2014 from Bottineau High School. Susan works for First District Health Unit – Bottineau County, a position she has held since April of 1997.
Leo Duchsherer, Vice-Chairperson
Leo has been a member of Affinity First for many years, where his first involvement was on the marketing committee. He enjoys working with other volunteers setting up different events and/or credit union annual meetings/outings. Leo was elected to the board of directors in 1997. Leo was born and raised in the Minot area. He worked construction right out of high school. He enjoys working with his hands, be it a remodeling project (flood victim), helping a neighbor, gardening, yard work and the smell of a fresh cut lawn. Leo has traveled and visited many states only to find himself returning to the Minot area. Leo is married to his wife Denise. He has two children, Joshua and Amanda and four grandchildren. Leo is very committed to serving our members through the Board of Directors to help guide our credit union now and into the future.
Darlene Abel, Secretary/Treasurer
Darlene has been a volunteer for Affinity for about 10 years. Darlene is a retired hairstylist and salon owner. She has been involved for many years with the Look Good Feel Better program for cancer patients on a volunteer basis. Darlene and her husband Abe are North Dakota natives where she was born and raised on a dairy farm near Sawyer ND. They have one son, Justin, who lives in Sabin, Minnesota. He and his wife Leslie have blessed them with 3 grandchildren; Aubrie, Alexus and Gavin. Darlene enjoys some hobbies in her free time. She loves to read and do some quilting. She also loves to exercise, garden and works in the spring time at one of the satellite greenhouses for Lowe’s Garden Center. Darlene likes to travel and wishes she could do more. Darlene is very proud of our credit union and has enjoyed her time on the Board of Directors. Her volunteer time has helped keep her involved in our community.
